Diabetes

What is Diabetes?

Insulin is a hormone made by the body. It changes food into energy. If you have type 2 diabetes your body can not make enough insulin or your cells are just not using the insulin very well. This is when your blood sugar increases.
Increased blood sugar puts you at greater risk for heart attack, kidney damage, stroke and blindness. It also may cause you to have poor blood flow and a greater chance for you to need a toe, foot, or even a leg amputated!
